Personal Narrative

I have always known that massage therapy would somehow be a part of my life. Being an athlete for 10 years all through school really lead me into the massage therapy field. Volleyball was my main sport and really where my passion was but I also played basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, ran track, and marched with the band. As high school athletes my friends and I became aware of the benefits of massage during our competitive seasons and how rubbing our muscles before and after events really helped prevent injury. It was then that I decided this was what I wanted to do as a career. I would be able to combine my love of sports with my natural drive of helping others. I did some research and learned about all of the opportunities the field could give me and the different directions I could go and began massage therapy school in July 2006. Learning about the muscles and how the body works was incredible. I really enjoyed the myology class while in school. By October 2007 I was licensed by the State of New York and began practicing right away.
I am always looking to improve my skills and gain as much knowledge as possible to be able to provide my clients with the best treatment possible. I continued my education and became certified in both hot stone massage and myofascial release in October of 2008. I also went on to take the exam and became nationally certified in January of 2009.
I grew up in Elbridge and have lived there my whole life. I love animals and actually considered going to school to be an animal handler. I love playing sports and being active. In the summer I enjoy running and rollerblading with my friends.
