Here are some tips to de-stress your life. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in everything thats going on around us and we loose focus on ourselves, I guess thats life just happening the way it’s supposed to. A fast paced life is what keeps us facing deadlines, saving money, spending money, worring about bills, changing the oil in your car, feeding kids and the dogs, mowing the lawn, working overtime, saving for vacation, updating resumes, sending out resumes, and so on. It’s easy to get caught up. Here are some tips to help settle yourself down..
1. Get organized.. If only one drawer at a time, it really feels good to take that old junk drawer and pour it out on the table. Pull the garbage can close and toss everything you haven’t used or don’t need. Make different piles on the table of what you need and categorize. Once you’ve finished, everything has a place and that feels good to have some order re-claimed.
2. Try getting up a little earlier in the morning, make some tea or coffee (whatever your vice) and collect your thoughts. Having a little extra time in the morning to set aside for waking-up and planning out the day gives you a sense of control. No matter how crazy the day gets latter on, you still had that quiet time in the morning to prepare yourself mentally.
3. Try listening to sounds of nature or classical music. I know it sounds crazy but soft melodies and a trickling stream is so calming. There’s something about the pulse of ocean waves that makes you want to slow down your breathing and relax.
If nothing else, you can always schedule a massage for 30 minutes and unwind. It’s important to take care of yourself so you can take care of the people you love in your life.

Going Green
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
So lately, I’ve been slowly making the switch to organic products. This has been a very slow and gradual process, kind of like changing your diet and exercise patterns. This is a commitment to a different lifestyle and hopefully a better one.
Last year this time of year, my allergies were so bad, runny and stuffy nose, sneezing and watery eyes. I began to do some research and it made sense that some of my everyday chemical exposure may have been making me more allergy prone. I began using less toxic cleaners for the kitchen and bathroom. I actually made my own room fresheners with essential oils and distilled water. Gradually, last fall, I began switching my skincare to paraben, color and fragrance free. I noticed less break outs of ichy, dry skin. Recently, I have been shopping in the organic section more frequently at Wegman’s and scouring labels for ingredients. Overall, I feel more aware of what I am putting in my body. I have a greater sense of control with my health eating and using organic products.
I am currently allergy free and during the “flu season” I was out sick for about 2 days total. I will continue this lifestyle along with exercising regularly and see how it goes. For now, I am a believer that “green” is the way to go.

The Foam Roller
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
Some of you have seen this crazy apparatus. It’s a long foam roller, I brought it to the gym last week when I was working on some of you. Anyway its a great tool for self care when you have achey muscles. Not to mention some of you were having a try at using it for a balance trainer. Trying to balance on this roller while on one foot, two feet, some of you even tried handstands. I’m ordering some more of these and I will bring them in when I get them so you can take them home and train more.
